3 out of 5 stars okay i guess   August 23, 2010
Chris
These are okay for general system sound, and unimportant video and audio clips. If you want to listen to music in a serious way however then don't spend 8 quid on speakers.
There is some distortion when the volume is turned up - and we're only talking fartbox volume levels here. The mute button doesn't work, but I've never understood the point of muting anyway, so who gives... They have a very high centre of gravity so if like me you bought these because there's no room for anything bigger, then be aware that just brushing these things will send them flying. Though I have to say, I've knocked these things off the desk about five times - clumsy sod that I am- and they're still working fine, so they can take a smack or two. One thing that is slightly irritating is that these bypass your onboard soundcard and as they have no headphones outlet, if you want to use phones you'll have to re-enable your old soundcard. This is annoying because there are times when you'll want to assess sound quality with the fullness intact and you cant do that through these speakers. But what do you expect for the money. So buy them only if you want them for system sound and don't use headphones often, and aren't a clumsy bugger.

4 out of 5 stars I like these speakers   August 19, 2010

I read all reviews before purchasing these speakers and I decided I would buy them. There are some negative (and positive) comments posted but it all depends on what you want from the speakers. If you want mega sound for hig volume music then you will get some distortion and vibration sounds. However if you just want extra sound from your laptop (as I did) for normal volume music and radio, then these are excellent value. The only drawback that I would warn about is - the speaker buttons for +volume - volume and mute don't work if your laptop is in screensaver mode. It is the computer that controls the speakers not the other way around. Having said that, this isn't a big problem for me and I am very happy with their performance. For the money these speakers are really good.

I wanted speakers for my computer that run from a USB point and did not need a mains lead - and could also be used with a laptop. These do not disappoint. They were inexpensive and give a good clear sound.

4 out of 5 stars Very good for the money   August 12, 2010

Good sound at sensible volumes, these speakers are also attractive. Not for the serious enthusiast but for very acceptable balanced sound these are ideal. At first there was vibration from one of the speakers but this seems to have gone away.

5 out of 5 stars You cant go wrong, Great Speakers   July 29, 2010

After reading mixed reviews about these speakers i didnt know what to expect. But as soon as i plugged them into my computer and heard the sound quality i was amazed. They produce clear sound quality and the bass is not bad at all. They are also loud enough for a standard sized room. For the size and money you just cant go wrong with these. I also have not had any distortion from the speakers when they are on full volume.
