bought this hard drive to backup data on the pc. mostly pictures and documents and some films (avi's). no problems with connecting to pc or laptops. just plug and play and drag and drop. cheapest 500GB hard drive at the time, sometimes twice as cheap as others and was well worth buying. fast to copy files across. would definitely recommend.

I bought this item so that i could save items from my daughters old machine using windows easy transfer as i was taking windows xp off and replacing it with windows 7 ultimate. The 500gb external hard drive was so easy to install it does everything for you,all you have to do is give the old file a name so that you can retreive it when you start to put items saved on it back onto your pc when all of your new windows operating system has been installed. You can also use it for a storage of all your pictures and any important material that can be copied from not only your pc but from other pc's. Brill Brill.

Product may be good, but unable to test it as it came with the wrong USB port (1.6 instead of 2.0). Amazon helpful in providing a telephone number for Seagate but they are in America and never answer the phone. Amazon also helpful in sending a returns lable, but it's such a hassle and will have to wait a long time now for a replacement. Unlucky? Maybe, but the hardcase recommended by Amazon arrived and it's far to small to fit this product, so I've been unlucky twice in the last couple of days!

i love it, it's small, very reliable, quiet and is very computer friendly, also i have been looking around for more hard drives, i haven't found one yet that beats the value of this one.
i am very very happy with my purchase :)

I needed an external HDD, so ran down to the shops to buy on, and saw this drive for half the price of the competition.
Baffled as i was with the price difference, i could see no reason not to buy it. So i did.
The drive itself is superfast, the 7200RPM, so there is less down time when you walk away from the computer leave a video paused and come back to watch the video after say 10 minutes.
The best bit is that it doesnt need an external power supply, so now i can carry the drive around, all though its not the smallest drive in the world.
I have no regrets with this product.
I'll update if anything does go wrong :)
