I purchased this book to supplement my children's education. It is easy to read and inpires critical thinking and offers insight not often covered in textbooks.
started "ok" but then downhill August 28, 2010 Christopher A. Mills (Shreveport , LA USA) 1st of all I agree with the author's basic premis that many of today's works of history have a horrible anti-American bias from left wing nuts who live off the government dole on tenur at our universities. This book started out ok but went down hill as one gets closer to the present. By the time one gets to Reagan and Clinton forget about any objective reasoning. The final 150 pages of this book can be summed up as Republican/ Conservative=good; Democrat/ Liberal= bad. If the author were to spend the last 50 pages merely repeating that phrase over and over again, he would fufill his purpose. I do not care to waste my time with a "history" written by either Micheal Moore or Rush Limbaugh.
satisfied August 23, 2010 chucklin The seashell sellers went out of their way and very quickly handled a problem I had with the delivery of this item. I am delighted with their service and with the book.
impressed with research August 21, 2010 GWEN D'ECOLE (LAGUNA WOODS CA USA) Very impressive and scholarly compilation of facts and events of US history. Great and easy reading.
I will give it as Christmas presents to all our children. Every family needs this accurate history.

Complete over reaction to "liberal" textbooks August 20, 2010 Jolene 6 out of 8 found this review helpful
While reading this book I alternated between wanting to laugh and wanting to cry. If you can read this book and think that it is somehow balanced then our education system has failed you. Sure there are some "liberal" biased textbooks out there, but this book takes biased to a whole new level. It is especially irritating because the authors try to convince you they are balanced in their presentation of history. It is fine to read this book, but please read it for what it is, an opinion piece full of selected facts to present the authors view of history. This book selects events to cover and facts to relate that only back up the authors ultra conservative view of the world. As one example, look at the use of when public opinion polls are cited in the book. Polls are constantly cited that would make the reader believe that the entire country is and always has been full of only conservatives. I don't doubt that the polls cited exist, I only question why only certain points of view are presented. The bottom line is if you worship Reagan, and want a book to make you feel good about your opinions this book is for you. If you are interested in an unbiased presentation of history, you will have to look elsewhere.
